Ares66 Releases ‘Gangsta Points’ Album
Big Beats Afriq producer Ares66 unveiled his latest album, Gangsta Points, today, Friday, the 5th of 2024. The album arrived two days after he announced its release through his social media platforms with the caption;
“The manual for rap My Album Gangsta points will be available on all digital platforms this Friday 5th Jan 2024. Meanwhile you can get a pre-order soft copy going for 1000ksh.”
Mainly known for his production prowess, AresA66 is also an artist in his own right. Circa 2010, when starting the label Big Beatz Afriq, Khaligraph Jones would record at his studio in Umoja. Given Khali’s work rate and dedication, Aress had to take a backseat and focus on the production side.
Therefore, his transition into production coincided with Papa Jones’s rise. He spoke about this journey in a Back 2 Basics interview with OnduStreetLawyer.
Despite stepping back from the forefront as an artist, Ares has remained active, releasing projects and contributing to various projects, including his fire verse on “Rong Cypher Vol 2.0.” off Ndani Ya Cockpit 3.
Album Production
Ares66 solely handled production and mixed and mastered all the songs on the album. The lead single, “Teamkumallo,” featuring Wakadinali, which came out on October 9, 2023, preceded the 15-track album. The album maintains his signature hip-hop sound.
Gangsta Points Features
The album features various artists, such as Young Haze, P.R.O., Wakadinali, Skillo, Magaa, Sudough, John Mo’re, and Buruklyn Boyz.
The Collective Rise
Gangsta Points arrives amidst a flurry of creative endeavours from the talented collective around him. Notable projects released within the past year include SewerSydaa’s Mauru Unit, Katapilla’s ME AGAINST ME, Sudough’s SEEK, and Skillo’s The Rong Don, to name a few.
The LP follows the Black Milk EP, which came out in October 2023. Reflecting on a dynamic year, Aress churned out new music and played a pivotal role in producing and mastering projects for other artists. His influence extended across diverse releases, such as Wangechi’s Emotional Gangster, showcasing his multifaceted talents in music production.
