Njerae Beg for It

Following the release of “Nyumbani” at the back end of 2024, award-winning recording artist Njerae continues to make waves. The highly anticipated single, “Beg for It,” will be released on January 17, 2025.

Marking her first song of the year, Njerae aims to surpass 2024. In true beginning-of-the-year fashion, 2025 is the year we look forward to experience more of her music and growth.

Njerae and Kobby Worldwide Link Up Again

Teaming up with frequent collaborator Kobby Worldwide, “Beg for It” showcases Njerae’s distinct vocal and songwriting prowess. The song further solidifies her position as a rising star in the Kenyan music scene.

The two previously collaborated on her chart-topping hits “Aki Sioni” (currently at 1.7M streams on Spotify) and “OTD” (1.1M on Spotify). To top it off, her Bonafide classic 2022 debut album, Unintentional.

The album remains on Apple Music Kenya’s Top 50 albums chart two years later. On the other hand, “Aki Sioni” maintains 15th place in the top 100 Kenya charts.

The highly successful track has amassed 3 million streams across all platforms, and on “Beg for It,” her chemistry with Kobby shines yet again.

Njerae “Beg for It” and Its Underlying Narrative

“Beg For It is an Afro-R&B track that speaks to the importance of communication in a relationship,” Njerae says.

The song tells the story of a lover girl who is deeply in love. She expresses that she not only wants this man but yearns for his love and is virtually willing to beg for it.

Njerae explores the initial confusion of loving someone and the lengths we go to show it.

“I have always been a fan of open communication in relationships but sometimes I also realise that it can be hard to say what you want to say. ‘beg for it’ was my attempt at letting him know that I not only want but need his love,” she added.

2024: Mwaka wa Njerae

During the blistering festive period when Njerae was booked and busy, she managed to bag some awards.

  1. Named in the Top 100 Kenyan list for her influence on youth through music by media outlet Kenyans.co.ke.
  2. ‘Album of the Year Award’ in a fan-voted category for Unintentional at the inaugural Digital 254 Radio Awards.

Njerae is thrilled to share her new single with her fans. In the performance realm, she co-headlined Blankets & Wine. She also held a series of live performances over the festive period, including at the Beneath the Baobabs Festival in Kilifi during New Year. This marked the end of her spectacular year in 2024.

For the better part of 2024, fans on social media and music lovers shared that they loved her place in life and that she should continue writing love songs that many relate to.

Her music, while a form of artistic expression, is therapy for those who relate.

2025: Njerae Supremacy

In 2024, Njerae capitalized on an upward trajectory, joining the highest-streamed artists on Spotify in Kenya. Additionally, she performed at major festivals such as Raha Fest and Nairobi Street Food Festival.

As if this was not enough, she headlined her inaugural debut show. Njerae will start off the year with a mellow Afro R&B cut, “Beg for It.”

With a new campaign, #NjeraeSupremacy, the “Aki Sioni” hitmaker is set to use all of the resources available to her to make great hits. “The plan is to take the brand NJERAE a notch higher. More music, performances, tours, honestly just delivering for my fans,” she shared.
