Charisma’s Meteoric Rise – And Why It’s Only The Beginning
While Kenya boasts many talented artists, some stand out as truly exceptional. One such artist is Fidel Eli Shammah Omusula, better known as Charisma or Luhya Heat.
Not many people realize this, but Charisma has been in the music industry for nearly a decade—perhaps even longer. Only now is he beginning to reap the rewards of his hard work, sleepless nights, and endless studio sessions.
Le Band: The Beginning of a Journey
The “Sina Noma” hitmaker first stepped into the music scene as part of a three-man boy band, Le Band (French for “The Band”). The group, which consisted of Abe Kiptanui, Ken Mwendwa, Joel Maina, and Charisma himself, made waves in the Kenyan music industry in the mid to late 2010s.
Before their big break, they released “Kantai” in 2014, which they later featured rapper Khaligraph Jones on the remix in 2016.
Le Band gave Kenyans one of the biggest songs of 2017, “Number 1,” featuring the soulful Suzziah. They went on to release hits such as “Sweet Lady,” “Move,” “Nakupenda,” “Leo (mututho),” and “For You,” among others.
Sadly, the band split up after about a year, leaving its members to forge their paths. Charisma, however, chose to pursue a solo career—a decision that has turned out to be a winning bet.

Solo Success and Breakthrough Hit
Since going solo in 2019, Charisma has released several notable tracks, including “Unavyonipenda” featuring Mbithi (Kamba Boy) and “Tuthi Nawe” featuring Njerae.
However, his biggest breakthrough came with “Sina Noma,” arguably one of Kenya’s biggest hits of 2024. Interestingly, though, the song was released in September 2023.
“Sina Noma” currently boasts 8.6 million views on YouTube—an impressive milestone for a Kenyan artist. Surprisingly, the track was not among the most-streamed songs on Spotify Wrapped for 2024, but that’s a story for another day, isn’t it? 😊
The Motions: A Defining Moment
Charisma took things a notch higher in August 2024 when he dropped his debut album, The Motions. The album was a well-curated mix of different genres and showcased his growth as an artist. His ability to collaborate with various musicians, including Trio Mio, demonstrated his versatility and evolution over the years.
The album made waves across streaming platforms, proving that Charisma was just getting started. It is only a matter of time before the whole world—or at least the continent—recognizes his talent.

Taking Over 2025
Barely three months into 2025, Charisma has already had his major moment. How else would you describe being one of only three Kenyan artists to perform alongside Nigerian superstar Burna Boy? Perhaps something even bigger awaits him before the year ends, so let’s not jump the gun just yet.
According to attendees of the Madfun Experience held on March 1, 2025, Charisma stole the show. His performance was exceptional—he came prepared and gave fans value for their money. Over the weekend, he was one of the headliners at Ngemi 3.0 and, as has become the norm, he surpassed expectations.

Going Global
But that’s not all.
A few days ago, Charisma announced his upcoming Australian tour, set to take place from May 2nd to 4th, with performances in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney. To the surprise of many, Charisma has officially gone international.
If he maintains his current momentum—and we are sure he will—he might just land a major international collaboration or even bring Kenya its first-ever BET Award, or maybe even a GRAMMY!
The Secret To His Success
So, what makes Charisma stand out? Why are Kenyans embracing his music now more than ever? How did he get here?
1. Exceptional Music
Firstly, he makes great music—plain and simple. His songs are easy to sing along to and incredibly memorable, like the catchy lyric from “Sina Noma”: “Jaber dong’e ing’eyo ni an ahero ga sianda.
2. Electrifying Live Performances
Secondly, he is an exceptional live performer. If you have attended any of his shows, you know this to be true. He isn’t just energetic—jumping around and shaking his dreadlocks—he also engages with fans more than most Kenyan artists do.
3. A Charismatic Personality (No pun intended)
Thirdly, Charisma has a jovial and charismatic personality. If you meet him at an event, chances are he will be more excited to see you, his fan, than you are to see him. He’s also quite loud, which might leave you feeling a little overwhelmed—but that’s just who he is.
The Future is Bright
As his star continues to rise, one thing is certain: Charisma is just getting started. His journey is a testament to patience, hard work, and consistency. With every performance, every hit song, and every international stage he conquers, Charisma is proving that Kenyan music has a place on the global map.
The question is no longer if he will make it big—it’s when?
