Liboi and Kayrop Drop Collaborative EP Dubbed ‘Nani Alisema’
Contemporary singer Liboi and Afro House Music Producer and DJ Kayrop have released a new EP dubbed Nani Alisema. “Nani Alisema,” which translates to “Who Said?”, is an experimental project that finds the two in a space that challenges their traditional creative and sonic direction.
The EP is a frenzied, socially conscious body of work that celebrates love, forgiveness, unity, and belonging in four deeply evocative songs.
Rooted in Afro-fusion with a pensive tone, the EP provides an intimate sonic experience that balances personal introspection with communal healing.
Tracklist, New Sound & Spotify Playlists
The EP features four tracks: “Nyumbani,” “Nani Alisema,” “Twende Sote,” and “Tupendane.” Its unique sound weaves Afro-fusion with electronic undertones, bringing together the distinct yet complementary musical styles of both artists.
The balance creates a sound experience that resonates with the soul while getting listeners on their feet.
The first track, “Twende Sote”, released on 11 July 2025, is already garnering attention from listeners across the continent and beyond. Spotify supported the release by adding the track to its flagship dance playlists such as ‘Oontz’ (24), New Music Friday Kenya, and Afro House Pulse (37).
By delving into the Afro-House genre, Liboi is positioning herself in the right places, hence diversifying her music and fan base.
Liboi and Kayrop asserted that each song is a story of emotion and lived experience.
- “Nyumbani” is a tender call for a loved one to return home.
- “Nani Alisema” explores the resilience required in love and relationships.
- “Twende Sote & Tupendane” offers a message of peace, unity, and compassion.
According to Liboi, “What really grounded this project was our shared intention to speak on themes that matter; love, home, unity, and healing, but through a sound that gets people moving. It’s music you can dance to, but also reflect with.”
Producer Kayrops Take
For Kayrop, this EP is a step into uncharted territory. He explains, “Nani Alisema is more than music — it’s a feeling. We blend Afro-rooted sounds with modern energy to remind us of who we are: united, loved, and home wherever we dance.”
Kayrop brings a unique perspective to the collaboration, particularly with his fresh perspective on instrumentation, including the fusion of Lingala-inspired melodies and electronic beats in “Nyumbani.”
He elaborates, “What if an electronic artist made a Lingala-inspired track? That’s the question that sparked “Nyumbani,” a fusion of Lingala-inspired melodies and percussion with electronic energy.”
This EP marks a departure from his typical sound. He says,
This project is quite different from what I usually do. It’s rich with live instrumentation, especially layered African percussion and guitar rhythms across different songs. What drew me to work with Liboi is her unique musicality. She approaches every song with intention and heart, singing about deep themes like love, unity, and togetherness but with melodies and lyrics that feel effortless.

Future Plans & Working with the Best Talents
As with any great collaboration, the contribution of other artists adds great depth. Liboi highlighted the valuable input of the much-sought-after percussionists Moses Akhonya and Eric Mwangangi, guitarist Henry Ngugi, and the UK-based Ugandan producer and sound engineer, Dominic Clare.
She shared,
Each person’s craft brought depth and flavor, adding layers that made the EP not only cohesive but rich with emotion and energy.” For Kayrop, even in moments of doubt, the collaborators effortlessly affirmed him. He said, “Seeing how each artist interpreted our ideas and added their own creativity elevated the entire project. In moments where I felt something was missing, they brought their A-game, filling the gaps and making me love the music even more.

Looking ahead, both artists have hinted at exciting plans as Liboi teased, “Definitely a lot in store for my fans. Watch this space!”.

Kayrop echoed her sentiments, saying, “More music. More vibes. Stay tuned because the next stage could be anywhere, and I just might be on it.”
