Kenyan singer/songwriter and R&B sensation Njerae is set to release her Four Letter Word EP on Valentine’s Day. She shared on social media that the release aligns perfectly with the month of love.

Synonymous with love hymns, Njerae’s music serves as the love diary to most lover girls in Nairobi. It’s that love season and everything will come full circle when the EP drops.

Four Letter Word presents the ultimate gift to her fans to add to their Valentine’s playlists as they celebrate the month of love.

Love Themes, ‘Beg For It’ Success, and New EP

The release comes after she was named in Apple Music’s Africa Rising Stars class of 2025, representing Kenya and the larger East Africa. In this project, she delves into themes her fans are familiar with and associates her with—the human love experience.

Four Letter Word EP has four tracks.

The fan-certified “Queen of Love” released “Beg for It” on January 17th as a teaser to the EP. The track peaked at number 36 on Apple Music Top 100 Kenya. Since its release, “Beg for It” has become an ultimate fan-favorite and the go-to sing-along song.

Fans enthusiastically jam to it at the various events where Njerae has performed.

Njerae’s music resonates with lovebirds, aspiring lovers, and those watching from the sidelines. Her music explores the emotions that one has when in love, making it easy for them to relate.

I wanted to create a body of work that not only talked about intimate love, but also the whole experience, from love, lust, obsession and social interactions.

Experimentation and Tracing Her Roots

Njerae experimented a lot previously when she worked on her past projects. However, Four Letter Word marks a shift from her April 2024 EP, Out with the Old.

In this EP, she returns to her original sound whilst getting the best out of the artistic abilities of the three producers who worked on it with her.

In this project, I am going back to my roots, writing songs that are following my original style. This music is a fusion of what I have learned, experimenting over the years, working with different artists and producers with my original style.

Dating Rumors + “Beg For It” Music Video

In the past few weeks, Njerae has performed at Love Notes (with Mutoriah and Kethan) and Pass the Aux with Brandy Maina.

Following her Love Notes show, she posted a cryptic photo on Instagram, sparking dating rumors. It was later revealed that the hands belonged to singer Mordecai, one-third of Hart the Band.

Earlier this week, she shared a sneak peek of the “Beg For It” music video. It was later discovered that the controversial photo was a teaser for the upcoming visuals on Valentine’s Day.

Marking her first body of work in 2025, the “Aki Sioni” hit maker has teased the music video, and a lineup of other projects and live performances set to follow throughout the year.
