Njerae Named In Apple Music’s Africa Rising Class of 2025

Kenyan Afro-soul singer Njerae has been named in Apple Music’s Africa Rising Class of 2025, making her the second East African artist to receive this honor. She follows Nikita Kering, who received it in 2021.
This recognition comes after she released her first single of 2025, “Beg for It.”
“Beg for It” is an Afro-R&B love ballad about the importance of communication in a relationship. Since its release, the song has received massive fan support.
Apple Music Africa Rising Class of 2025 and Its Impact
Other artists in the class of 2025 include;
- KAESTYLE – Afrobeats artist and producer from Nigeria 🇳🇬
- Lusanda – Singer-songwriter from South Africa 🇿🇦
- FOLA – Singer, songwriter, and producer from Nigeria 🇳🇬
- AratheJay – Rising beatmaker from Ghana 🇬🇭

The program, which aims to develop new artists, started in 2020 and showcases exciting new acts across Africa. This exposure allows their music to reach new markets and gives their voices a wider audience.

Acclaim, Chart-Topping Singles, and Career Milestones
Njerae has received acclaim from key industry figures for her exceptional work as a musician. Hot-list Africa recognized her as one of the Hottest breakout artists of 2024.
Her chart-topping single “Aki Sioni” recently ranked 10th in Apple Music’s Top 100 (Kenya) list. She has consistently topped the charts and received excellent ratings.
Her career has blossomed since she signed a new deal with Universal Music Group East Africa in August 2024.
Being part of Apple Music’s Africa Rising Class of 2025 will further elevate her career.
Her debut album, Unintentional, remains in the Apple Music Kenya Top 50 albums two years after its release. Her fans also supported her, helping her win ‘The Album of the Year award’ for Unintentional at the inaugural Digital 254 Radio Awards in 2024.
Furthermore, popular Kenyan digital media outlet Kenyans.co.ke recognized Njerae as one of the Top 100 Kenyans for influencing the youth through her music.
