Joh Makini Links Up with Bien and Jay Melody on “Formula”
Tanzanian rapper Joh Makini has released a new song titled “Formula (Moto Zimelia),” featuring Bien and Bongo singer Jay Melody.
Continuing the momentum, 2024 has picked up musically; this marks Joh Makini’s third song of the year, Bien’s second, and Jay Melody’s first. Joh Makini collaborated with AY “Pull Up” earlier this month. A week later, he released Makasia (Kilimo Edition) and accompanying visuals with Benpol.
Meanwhile, Bien has been in high demand since the beginning of this year and towards the end of last year. He started the year with a music video for his song “A Student” and has featured on Harmonize’s latest track, “I Made It,” with Bobby Shmurda. However, the track’s release date was pushed to January 31st, 2024.

News about “Formula (Moto Zimelia)” first hit the social media space through a tweet by Joh Makini on Wednesday (January 24).
The following day (January 25), he took to his Instagram to post the cover photo and its release details with the caption;
“Taarifa toka manta zinasema Moto Zimelia!!! Na hii ndio formula ya 2024flowz #Formula feat.@bienaimesol & @realjaymelody produced by @gachib mastered by Chizan brain dropping tomorrow”
Bien confirmed the news on his Instagram stories. Joh Makini later shared a post featuring the trio and AY in a picture that appeared to be from the music video.

“Formula” is a soulful song produced by Gachi B that delves into the dynamics of love and relationships. All three artists, Joh Makini, Bien, and Jay Melody bring the best of their worlds. Joh Makini raps in his signature style while Bien sings the hook: “Mapenzi si kulima vanilla, wala kucheza na mpira,” Jay Melody creates an irresistible blend of his verses in a great collaboration.
